Quiz Numbering

In an earlier post, I mentioned that I am using the WCAG 2.0 structure as a framework for asking questions. WCAG 2.0 has four sections, each called a “principle.” Within each section there are numbered guidelines. For example, the first guideline in principle 2 is:

Guideline 2.1 Make all functionality operable via a keyboard or a keyboard interface.

Building from this numbering scheme, I append one more number for the quiz. For example, the first quiz related to the cited guideline has a number of 2.1.1.

In the case where a quiz does not map directly to any of the WCAG 2.0 principles, I use 5 as the highest order number.

For those who have not yet read WCAG 2.0, the four principles are:

  1. Principle 1: Content must be perceivable.
  2. Principle 2: Interface elements in the content must be operable.
  3. Principle 3: Content and controls must be understandable.
  4. Principle 4: Content must be robust enough to work with current and future technologies.
