IE 6 does not display the text, but does leave space for the block. If I were trying to use this technique only for hiding text (without image replacement), it wouldn’t be good enough.

Jaws 5.0 with IE 6
hidden text is spoken, but not displayed.
However, space for the empty text block is displayed.
